Scott has 30 years of experience in investment management, banking and consulting with a focus on impact and community investing strategies.  He is currently Project Director of the (MHCP) where he is working to create specialized credit union focused on small-scale sustainable agriculture and related food producers in Maine. The MHCP operates under the auspices of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) and the Maine Farmland Trust (MFT).

Prior to moving to Maine, Scott worked at TIAA, an $800 billion pension and investment firm where he was an equity analyst and portfolio manager. He also created the firm’s first investment department focused on social and impact investing strategies and led the development of new investment programs focused microfinance internationally and community development banks in the USA. Scott’s TIAA work also included overseeing the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) screening methodology on over $12 billion in assets and the development of new international equity and fixed income screened mutual funds and the launch of ESG screening for institutional investors.

His prior bank experience includes 10 years in finance, strategic planning and credit analysis in Boston. He began his community development credit union work in 2012 and returned to Maine in 2013. Scott graduated from Bowdoin College and has a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University. He lives in Portland with his wife and a poodle-terrier mix named Casco.
