Amy Maestas is digital editor at The Salt Lake Tribune. She recently left her position as executive editor of The Durango Herald in Durango, Colo., where she worked for 23 years. Amy oversaw three general interest newspapers, an outdoor recreation magazine and an alternative weekly, which she founded. She was contributing editor of Inside/Outside Southwest Magazine from 2001 to 2011. In 2012, Amy was a Maynard Institute fellow at the Nieman Foundation at Harvard. She also was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan from 2016 to 2017, where she researched the future of local news. Amy holds a bachelor of arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Utah. Before spending 23 years in Southwest Colorado, she worked for magazines and newspapers in Salt Lake City.
