After flirting with a variety of musical instruments, Carl settled into lifelong relationships
with Bass (Precision and upright), tenor banjo, and singing. He has performed
professionally with a variety of groups: everything from rock, to bluegrass; country to
contra dance; and church’s to choruses; in the Monadnock Region and beyond. He
currently performs with 20 th Century Pops and occasionally Frost Heaves as well as doing
solo performances. Along the way he recorded with Wade Mainer, Dick Nevell, Dudley
Laufman, , and the Jazz Express; also playing for many Keene Lions shows. A fun fact is
that he is one of the few musicians ever to perform at a haircut.

Carl has served on the board of Arts Alive!, the Historical Society of Cheshire County, and
he is currently a City Councilor in Keene.
